About The Course
This course provides students with an opportunity to apply accounting and business concepts in real-world settings through visits to companies and a consultancy project for real organisations. Through collaboration with peers and industry leaders, students develop problem-solving skills and cross-cultural competencies, culminating in a study trip to Jakarta and Bali to present findings to client companies. This transformative experience helps students bridge theory and practice while gaining insights into one of Southeast Asia’s largest economies.
Reflection
Participating in this overseas exchange module to Jakarta and Bali has been an enriching and transformative experience, both academically and personally. This trip has provided invaluable insights into my professional development and personal growth.
One of my key takeaways was gaining a deeper understanding of Indonesia’s dynamic business landscape through company visits like Unilever Indonesia, Sinar Mas Land, and BPR Lestari. These visits highlighted how corporations adapt strategies to local markets, showcased advancements in urban planning, and revealed innovative approaches to financial inclusion.
Beyond academics, this trip fostered meaningful cross-cultural exchanges. Interacting with the BINUS students provided valuable insights into their lifestyles. From navigating bustling streets and enjoying local delicacies, every moment allowed me to appreciate Indonesia’s vibrant culture and traditions.
This trip also encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and develop stronger interpersonal and teamwork skills. Whether it was collaborating on the project or sharing personal stories with new friends, the journey emphasised the importance of open-mindedness and effective communication. Overall, this program has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience that has significantly enhanced my global perspective and cultural awareness. It provided opportunities to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds, exchange knowledge, and build lasting friendships, equipping me with lifelong skills and lasting memories.
