About The Course
Why Indonesia? Made up of a chain of thousands of islands between Asia and Australia, Indonesia is the world's largest archipelagic state and has one of the densest populations with a young workforce. Half of its total population is below the age of 30 years. Indonesia is the largest economy in Southeast Asia and is part of the G20 group of the world's richest nations. The Indonesian government launched its Indonesia 4.0 Roadmap in 2018, as part of efforts to make Indonesia one of the top 10 largest economies in the world by 2030. Even so, the country faces social challenges such as access to education and rising inequality, lax enforcement, and the need for infrastructure development is high
The purpose of this course is to provide participants with an appreciation of business and investment opportunities in Indonesia, and an understanding of its social, cultural, economic, and political landscape. Through a consultancy project, students will learn how to solve business problems with guidance from the faculty and project sponsor mentors, from problem definition to final client presentation – while simultaneously testing their skills in real-world settings.
Reflection
This trip has been an incredibly eye-opening experience, broadening my perspectives and providing valuable real-world insights. It’s rare to have the opportunity to apply what we learn in the classroom to real-world problems, and I’m immensely grateful for the opportunity to experience this. Collaborating with my classmates and BINUS University students to tackle real challenges made this journey both enriching and rewarding.
What stood out most to me was how much I learned beyond the academic scope. From teamwork and adaptability to creative problem-solving, this trip reinforced the importance of these skills in a real-world context. The feedback and insights we received from mentors and clients were invaluable, pushing me to think critically and approach problems from new angles.
I’m also deeply grateful for the friendships formed during this trip. The bonds we built with the BINUS University students were incredibly meaningful, and their warmth and hospitality left a lasting impression. These connections reminded me of the power of collaboration and how much we can learn from one another when we come together.
Looking back, this journey has been a profound learning experience, both personally and professionally. I wouldn’t trade it for anything, as it has left me with memories, lessons, and relationships that I’ll carry with me long after this trip. I’m excited to take these experiences forward and continue to grow from them.
