Vision & Mission
Vision
To be the essential and holistic space for SMU students and the greater community to create prototypes and innovative solutions for their school projects and beyond.
Mission
The SMU-X Makerspace is committed to providing the SMU community with a sanctuary to conduct hands-on design, experimentation, tinkering and prototyping; to stimulate creativity and imagination toward problem-solving; and to cultivate a culture of prototyping as a way of life—contributing to a more sustainable society and environment.
Programmes & Workshops
The SMU-X Makerspace offers ad-hoc workshops to educate the SMU community on:
- Introductory maker courses (e.g., 3D printing)
- Equipment-specific training (pre-requisites for unsupervised use)
- On-demand software & IoT training (including 3D modelling)
- Creative craft workshops (EDMs will be publicised via SMU emails)

Need guidance? Schedule an appointment with the Makerspace Student Associates. They can also 3D-print objects for you, or you may use designated printers yourself.
