About The Course
Indonesia, the world’s largest archipelagic state, boasts a young workforce, with half its population under 30. As Southeast Asia’s largest economy and a G20 member, it launched the Indonesia 4.0 Roadmap in 2018 to become a top 10 global economy by 2030. However, challenges remain, including education access, rising inequality, weak enforcement, and the need for infrastructure development.
Reflection
My study mission trip to Jakarta and Bali was a journey of contrasts and lessons that changed the way I see the world. Walking through Jakarta, I was struck by the stark divide—gleaming skyscrapers and luxury malls stood just minutes away from neighborhoods struggling with poverty. This contrast made me realize that rapid development doesn’t always mean equal progress for everyone. In Bali, the reality of tourism’s impact became clear through conversations with locals who shared how polluted beaches and rising crime were largely caused by irresponsible tourists. Initially, I had doubts about working with Jakarta-based students for our group project, worrying about time differences, cultural gaps, and logistical challenges. But those concerns faded as I saw the value of diverse perspectives, which made our work more insightful and creative. More than just an academic trip, this experience broadened my understanding of business, culture, and social responsibility. From company visits to local traditions like the kecak dance and the rich flavors of Nasi Padang, Indonesia proved to be a country full of depth and discovery. This trip reinforced the importance of staying open-minded, embracing different cultures, and understanding global issues beyond the surface. It was more than just a study mission—it was an experience that reshaped how I see the world.
Thank You Notes to Benefactors
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Benefactors for their generous support, which has allowed me to embark on an enriching study mission to Jakarta and Bali. This experience has been truly eye-opening, giving me the opportunity to not only gain deeper insights into Indonesia’s economy and culture but also to engage with local communities and broaden my global perspective. Your support is more than just financial assistance—it is a meaningful encouragement that has inspired me to make the most of this journey. From working with students in Jakarta to witnessing firsthand the contrasts between development and poverty, I have gained invaluable lessons that will stay with me for a lifetime. None of this would have been possible without your belief in my education and growth. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and will carry forward the knowledge and experiences gained in a way that reflects your generosity. Thank you once again for your trust and support—it truly means so much to me.
