Probably now the most popular room at lyf@SMU and a room where we could be nurturing our future stars-in-the-making. This room is designed to be a semi-private music room. It is fitted with acoustic panels and percussion and string instruments where you can enjoy a free jamming sessions with your friends or make new friends!

This area is an area for students to connect, collaborate and brainstorm. The open layout would also create opportunities for interaction and networking. If you are tired after a day of lectures and intensive project discussion, just rest in one of our bean bags. Just don't sleep with an open mouth cause you might not know when your photo will be taken and posted on Instagram!

Epigram Books is now at lyf@SMU ! Browse through the Epigram Books on Level 1 and the recipe books on Level 3 - all in the comfort of beanbags, sofas with a view of Armenian Street. Feel free to take a book home if you cannot finish reading it but please remember to bring it back! If you like to keep the book, then please do remember to drop some token of appreciation in the glass bowl on Level 1 at the bookshelves.

Individual Study Carrels are for students who want to study alone, surrounded by other people. Feel free to write on the whiteboards. You can even let your thoughts flow onto the whiteboard walls making up the sides of the carrel.

Individual Study Carrels are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

The Group Study Rooms and Project Rooms are semi-enclosed spaces where 4-6 people can meet to collaborate. These spaces include displays and whiteboards. Some rooms can be used for Skype calls, conference calls and interviews.

Group Study Rooms and Project Rooms are available on Levels 2 and 3.

This is a multi-functional themed study area where students can do individual or group discussions, or have a quick nap. The design of this room was selected by students themselves using the feedback wall on Level 2.

To book The Urban Jungle, please use the Facilities Booking System (limited to 2 hours per booking per user).

Discussion Booths offer restaurant-style seating for four to eight people, ideal for semi-private socializing or collaborative work. The booth table provides generous space for spreading out laptops, books and papers. Each booth table has a TV to which users can connect for easier projection of discussion materials and slides. Come and feel the buzz of a typical American diner!

Note: If you like peace and quiet, this may not be the ideal place for you.

Student-centred, technology-rich, flexible reconfigurable layout.

The Active Learning Classroom is a flat classroom where tables and chairs can be configured in any way you like. All furniture can also be pushed to the side to open up the space for events.

Key features of the Active Learning Classroom:

This is a beach/ pool-themed discussion room where you can conduct casual discussions, practice your presentations using the projector screens, or hold small scale events here.

If you like to book this room for your small scale event, please email smux@smu.edu.sg to check on availability. Please do indicate the purpose of the booking as well.

This is an alternative place for students to meet, socialise and work. Students can prepare their meals and bond over it. The social kitchen is equipped with water dispenser, microwave ovens, vending machines for you to grab some ready-made snacks! Check out the Scrabble Table which was inspired by the MPH building's heritage as a printing press!
