Course Description

The center piece of this course is an interdisciplinary group project, which will allow PLE students to apply and integrate what they have learned from the component disciplines (at least 2 of the 3) of their major, Political Science, Economics, and Law. Students will have the opportunity to discuss and reflect on the concept of interdisciplinarity, the benefits of and obstacles to interdisciplinary learning and research. They will be guided through a model of interdisciplinary research process, which they can apply to a real world problem in collaboration with an industry partner.  

Learning Objectives

At the end of the course, students  

  1. Will be able to explain what constitutes interdisciplinarity and what justifies interdisciplinary perspectives and methods
  2. Will have applied what they have learned to a real world problem
  3. Will be able to evaluate the benefits of interdisciplinary education and research and obstacles to be overcome in interdisciplinary pursuits
