Course Description

The Internet of Things (IoT) brings us a vision of a world in which trillions of devices can sense, communicate, and collaborate over the Internet, in the same way that humans interact and collaborate with one another over the World Wide Web. These interconnected devices offer exciting new services to improve our quality of lives and can be applied to various application domains - smart cities, smart homes, social services, and industrial automation. Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the course, students will:

- Understand the IoT component technologies: things, connectivity, sense-making

- Evaluate the suitability of various IoT component technologies for different application scenarios

- Apply the necessary skills to integrate IoT component technologies

- Create an Internet of Things prototype to conquer a real-world societal challenge

- Think deeply and broadly about the various ways in which the Internet of Things can make immense impact in society, especially to those in need

Ministry of Environment and Water Resources

Students developed IoT prototypes to improve tray return rate and public toilet cleanliness.

Mercatus Co-operative Limited

Students proposed innovative retail-tech solutions that will enhance and potentially transform a shopper's experience at shopping malls.

*SCAPE

Students developed several IoT prototypes that is able to track the demographics of youths who use *SCAPE venue and find out how they are utilising the space, tracking and management of utilitizes, and estate management.

NTUC Fairprice Group

Students developed an IoT prototype, with various occupancy sensors to track, manage and optimize our meeting rooms', shared desks' and discussion corners' utilization; as well as office experience such as noise level.
