Your favourite/ most memorable project

Outside of SMU, I mentor INSEAD MBAs in entrepreneurship. One memorable project was with a passionate team that had patented a  modular, portable solar-powered tent meant for disaster relief. Multiple tents linked together could generate enough "community" power for high electricity needs like cooking and refrigeration. Their passion to deliver this innovative, low-cost humanitarian relief showed that business can and must be a force for good.

What you envision for your area(s) of interest and research etc

Innovations that lead us to a sustainable future are our biggest need today, because we have no Planet B.

I find the younger generation much more aware of how critical sustainability is, and this gives me hope that we will find solutions for our Planet A.

If you might have a favourite book/ quote/ movie/ musical/movie character /special talent.. please do share your favourite(s)! And let us know why it is your favourite!

I run daily, read nightly, paint weekly.

My favourite run is down the canal in the morning to the beach, enjoying the sunrise and the bird calls, plus a 25-storey stair climb.

My usual nighttime read is The Economist, which was once edited by my favourite author George Orwell. Sadly, his dystopian view of the world remains current 70+ years later. But his focus on clear and simple writing is the foundation of all good communication.

My typical painting is a quick urban sketch, to which I add a little watercolour. Most importantly, painting must be followed by a good local breakfast with my painting kaki.
