The maiden SMU-X Citibank Fintech Project in AY20, being the first, was very memorable as we guided the students to achieve the deliverables for Citibank and experience working on a real life fintech project in a demanding, world-class and global banking environment.

What you envision for your area(s) of interest and research etc

Covid19 has brought opportunities for payment innovation. This trend will continue as the pandemic will emphasize the importance of contactless forms of shopping and payments everywhere, even for the smaller value purchases at the hawker centres and Grab Food deliveries. But there are formidable challenges to the introduction of new technology. Research into consumer behaviour and innovation diffusion can help the industry as it attempts to capture the huge potential offered by Covid19 to displace cash.

I play the drums! I enjoy it because you have to coordinate all your limbs together to produce something creative within a band (team) which is quite similiar to working in a fast-moving fintech environment requiring teamwork, coordination and creativity!
