Course Description

This SMU-X course will introduce students to the science and art of storytelling for organizations and brands.
Drawing from fields such as neuroscience, psychology and rhetoric, the course will help students to become masterful storytellers – that is, they will be able to create and tell engaging, motivational and memorable stories for various audiences and media. In addition, they will have the opportunity to apply what they have learnt to a real-world client project for a Korean tech company. Students will also learn about Korean business culture through their interactions with Korean university professors and students and through industry talks/company visits in Seoul.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course and the stint in South Korea, students will be able to:
• Explain the science behind the power of story.
• Explain core storytelling concepts, principles and frameworks.
• Create engaging, motivational and memorable stories for various audiences and media.
• Apply their storytelling knowledge and skills to real-world projects.
• Increase their understanding of Korean business culture.
